Troy Deeney blown away by ‘monstrous’ Leeds star after ‘huge call’ by Daniel Farke vs West Ham
Leeds United secured a well-earned win against West Ham on Friday.
Leeds were good value for their 2-1 result over West Ham in what was a largely simple route to victory at Elland Road.
There were fears ahead of kick-off as Leeds were struck by illness in the week leading up to the clash, but it did not show on the pitch.
Joe Rodon scored for Leeds to put them 2-0 up and ultimately out of sight from the Hammers despite their late consolation goal.
Daniel Farke’s team selection had been questioned in LS11, but Troy Deeney was left astounded by what he saw from the Whites.

Brenden Aaronson stuns Troy Deeney vs West Ham
Brenden Aaronson scored a controversial opener against West Ham, as there was a question surrounding offside in Yorkshire.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin could have been punished for disrupting the view of Alphonse Areola, but the goal stood, much to the delight of the Elland Road faithful.
This kickstarted the American international’s performance against a struggling Irons side, which saw him have a telling impact for Leeds.
The 25-year-old’s showing didn’t go unnoticed as Deeney has selected him as part of his BBC Sport Team of the Week.
Featuring alongside Rodon for the Whites, the former Watford striker spoke out in glowing terms about Aaronson’s showing against West Ham.
He said: “I think that was a huge call to put him in. There has been a bit of a call for him to be dropped. He gets the opening goal, missed a few chances in the weeks before, but it was a monstrous performance.
“He stepped up into the game and took the initiative to be like, ‘I’m going to be the difference maker today’. He showed why he should be in that Leeds team.“
Aaronson had telling Leeds United impact vs West Ham
The ex-RB Salzburg man failed to truly turn up for Leeds during his first stint in the Premier League back in 2022-23.
He didn’t then help himself by instantly departing on loan to Union Berlin once relegation to the Championship was confirmed.
Aaronson has since become a fan favourite for his performances in the Championship, catching the eye before a positive start to this campaign.
The American’s form continued against West Ham as he covered huge ground to put in an all-action performance at Elland Road.

Farke was proven right for including him in the squad, and there is hope that his output can continue as the season progresses.
