Tottenham transfer news as Joe Rodon to Leeds United update emerges at Elland Road
Tottenham Hotspur are likely to raise their asking price for Joe Rodon after a stellar six months with Leeds United, according to Phil Hay.
The Athletic journalist reported [22 January] that talks are already underway at Elland Road over Rodon’s future at the club, and whether his loan move could be made permanent after impressing.
It is understood that the Whites enquired about a transfer for the defender in the summer and were told he would cost £15million at the time.
It needs to be done
Rodon has been an instant success at Elland Road, despite him not being wanted at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The defender has never been allowed to settle, being sent on loan to Rennes after making the move from Swansea City.
Antonio Conte was never able to get the best out of the Welshman, or at least see the defender that Rob Page works with and trusts at international level.
And with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero already at Ange Postecoglou’s service, there was no chance for the 26-year-old in London. That may change now after his first six months at Leeds, though.

He has proven what an incredible asset he can be, but Leeds will feel he can be far more effective in Yorkshire than he can be at Spurs if the move can be made permanent. Of course, promotion to the Premier League will be an important factor in this entire situation.
Leeds will hope for the influx of cash that comes hand-in-hand with escaping the Championship, which would help them survive relegation again. It is assumed that a large wad of that cash will be invested in Rodon.
