Tottenham Hotspur want Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford

Tottenham Hotspur want Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford this summer, according to The Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath.

Spurs want attacking support for Harry Kane, and that has seen the Elland Road outfit move to try and hand him a fresh long-term contract to fend off interest from suitors.

Bamford, 27, is currently in the final season of his contract having not signed an extension since joining from Middlesbrough in 2018.

Hand him a new deal

The English striker missed out on England’s European Championship squad in the summer despite ending last season with 17 Premier League goals, and Leeds cannot afford to lose such an important player.

With Illan Meslier recently penning a new deal, we expect Bamford to follow suit as he deserves to be on improved terms too for his services over the last three campaigns.

The Elland Road decision-makers should not have waited until now before thinking about handing him a new deal.

We should not be waiting until the bigwigs come calling before attempting to hand our most important players new contracts.

Bamford needs to feel valued, and Leeds must do the right thing as soon as possible.

With Spurs keeping tabs on him, we have to admit that Bamford’s head could be turned.

The North Londoners have struggled in recent seasons, but they remain a force to reckon with in the Premier League, and playing for them could tempt most players outside of the top-six.

Hopefully, Leeds get the right thing done and ensure we hold on to one of the Premier League’s best strikers as he enters the prime years of his career,
