Tottenham Hotspur confirmed news v Leeds United: Five players ruled out with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg update shared

Tottenham Hotspur will be missing five first-team players for their final-day Premier League clash against Leeds United on Sunday, 28 May.

The North London outfit will be visiting Elland Road to take on a Whites side that needs three points and other results to go in their favour to avoid the drop.

However, Ryan Mason has ruled out Cristian Romero, with Hugo Lloris, Rodrigo Bentancur, Eric Dier and Ryan Sessegnon already out. The positive for Spurs is that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg could feature.

Interim boss Mason said, “Cristian [Romero] is out, he’s got an injury. Pierre [Hojbjerg] trained today and we’re hopeful he’ll be available.”

Leeds need to make the most of a number of players missing from the Spurs squad and take full advantage of it.

Hojbjerg has not been ruled out but is still a doubt and he formed an exemplary partnership with Bentancur in midfield and that’s not going to be present at Elland Road.

They do not have their first choice goalkeeper and missing their best centre-back too so it’s certainly not a strong squad Mason will bring to Elland Road.

With nothing to play for, Spurs may even give a few youngsters the opportunity to shine which will be a boost for Leeds who’ll be at full strength.

Sam Allardyce is yet to win a game for the Whites but he will lauded as a cult hero among the fanbase if he manages to secure the three points here that ensures Leeds will stay up.

He’s got a financial incentive towards doing that too and it also sends a message that he’s far from finished at the top level in management.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that an international player at Elland Road has no place at the club next season and a summer transfer is on the cards.
