Tony Dorigo stunned by Leeds star Raphinha call up for Brazil

Tony Dorigo has been left stunned as Leeds United star Raphinha finally jetted off to represent Brazil this week.

The BT Sport pundit admitted that having players from the Whites represent some of the biggest countries in the world is “incredible.”

Raphinha may have to miss the Premier League clash against Southampton upon his return, but that appears to be the last thing on Dorigo’s mind.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Dorigo admitted his sheer delight to see yet another one of our stars representing such a huge country.

“His work rate is tremendous and wow, he can play,” he said.

“You have to check yourself and understand the players Leeds have now got and the countries they represent. We’re talking about the big boys here, not minnows, it’s Germany, Spain and now Brazil. It’s incredible.

“For Raphinha it’s absolutely wonderful. Everyone has enjoyed his incredible ability at Leeds and now he’s in the Brazilian side.”

Another one.

Marcelo Bielsa won’t take full credit for the progression of Raphinha given his rise before the move to Elland Road, but he has no doubt turned him into a superstar in the Premier League.

The winger has easily been the standout player since he arrived and this call up to the Brazil squad will have come as a shock to no one.

It could even benefit Leeds more than we think, with Raphinha mixing with the likes of Neymar every single day across the next 10 days before his return to Elland Road.

With it looking more likely that the winger will be missing at St Mary’s in less than two weeks, this news isn’t the best, but fulfilling this dream of his will keep our main man happy that he can reach all of his goals at the club.

Keeping hold of Raphinha in years to come will no doubt prove to be a difficult task, but moments like this certainly give us hope.
