Tony Dorigo cannot believe what ‘brilliant’ Georginio Rutter did for Leeds United v Blackburn Rovers
Tony Dorigo could not believe what “brilliant” Leeds United star Georginio Rutter did during the Whites’ win over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday 9 December.
Daniel Farke’s claimed all three points at Ewood Park thanks to goals from Daniel James and Crysencio Summerville either side of half-time to remain third in the Championship and well in the race for the automatic promotion places after 20 matches.
While James’ finish secured many of the plaudits, Dorigo was left stunned by Rutter’s involvement in the build-up as he couldn’t believe that the forward had made such a “mess” of his skill, but still managed to pick up the assist.

Speaking on LUTV (9 December, 12:59) he said: “Absolutely brilliant.
“This time we do get it right on the counterattack, Georginio takes his man on, he makes a mess of it, somehow, someway gets past his man.”
Difference maker
It has become a key part of Rutter’s game that somehow, no matter how messy it appears, he manages to find a way to get around his man and make a big difference in every game. Few players have been as impactful as the Frenchman so far this season.
The run to get around his marker in the build-up to Leeds’ opener may not have shown the impressive dribbling style that Leeds United supporters have come to expect from the 21-year-old this season, but still, he managed to find a way to carve out a chance for James.

In 18 league appearances this season, Rutter has now managed to pick up an incredible nine assists while also finding the net four times himself. Farke would have liked to have seen his striker score more often himself but will have few complaints about his creative work.
The Whites paid a lot of money to bring Rutter to Elland Road last January and while he may not have provided the goals required in the Premier League, he is proving to be a real difference-maker in the Championship. Hopefully, he can continue to shine and help Farke’s side return to the top flight.
In other Leeds United news, Kieron Dyer has admitted that the Whites are a “juggernaut” in the race for automatic promotion
