Tony Dorigo was blown away by the performance of Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk in the 2-1 victory against Fulham on Friday evening.
Patrick Bamford and Raphinha got the all-important goals at Craven Cottage, but it was the Dutch youngster who caught the eye as the Whites ended their London curse.
Dorigo showered Struijk in praise as he managed to turn the tables on Aleksandar Mitrovic, who has bullied Leeds in the past few years.
Speaking to LUTV after the victory, Dorigo couldn’t help but be thrilled by the performance of Struijk at Craven Cottage.
“Struijk against Mitrovic as well, every time I see him I’m getting more and more impressed with him,” he said.
“I thought he was superb. Mitrovic likes to bully players, but there was no bullying Struijk tonight, nothing at all.”
Struijk was once again immense.
Liam Cooper struggled massively against Mitrovic in the reverse fixture at Elland Road, with the Serbian scoring twice, but he didn’t get a sniff after coming off the bench.
Diego Llorente also backed up his younger teammate with his own strength and dominance, with Cooper surely facing an uphill battle to return.
Mitrovic was dispossessed four times according to WhoScored, the most of any player on the entire pitch, which is a testament to the likes of Struijk.
The defensive talent never believed he would play this much football after promotion to the Premier League, but with each performance, he is getting better; what a player we have on our hands.
