Tony Currie: Leeds United will finish mid table
Tony Currie does not believe Leeds United will get relegated despite their bad start to the 2021/22 Premier League season.
The former Whites midfielder was asked by Yorkshire Evening Post, whether Leeds would endure a season like Sheffield United did after enjoying a top-half finish in their first term back up.
There certainly have been similarities between the two teams, but Currie likes their squad and playing style and believes it will be enough to get them over the line.

When asked about chances of Leeds getting relegated, Currie said, “It is a thought. You can compare it I suppose because Leeds had such a great season last year as Sheffield United did in their first year.
“Leeds have had a bad start but I don’t have any fears for them. I think they have got a decent enough squad. I like the way they play, they want to attack and I think that’s the only way they can play.
“I think they will finish mid-table and everyone would take that wouldn’t they – 10th/12th, at least that.”
Fair enough
Leeds’ recruitment last summer was exemplary as they strengthened in most of the positions that they needed to.
The likes of Raphinha, Robin Koch, Diego Llorente and Rodrigo have all been vital additions to this side.

The expectations were that the club would carry that on this summer as well, but that’s not what happened.
With only Junior Firpo and Dan James coming in through the door as players that could strengthen the eleven, Marcelo Bielsa’s side has not really strengthened as Pablo Hernandez and Gjanni Alioski both left in the summer while Helder Costa also went out on loan.
Hopefully, a couple of players, including a defender and midfielder are signed in January as the squad appears to be extremely thin at the moment and if they’re to avoid a relegation dog fight, it is imperative that they look to strengthen their team.
