Tony Cascarino: Raphinha is the most sought-after wide player

Tony Cascarino thinks Leeds United winger Raphinha is the most sought-after wide player due to his form this season.

The former striker suggests some clubs will be on the verge of making a move for the Brazilian, who took his goal tally to six for the season against Fulham.

Cascarino also likened Raphinha to Champions League winner Angel Di Maria, which shows how highly he regards the 24-year-old.

On talkSPORT’s GameDay Breakfast, Cascarino said, “Raphinha is probably the most sought-after wide player I think that someone might think they can get.

“I think people are that close to going ‘Raphinha, we’ve got to get him in’.

“He reminds me of a better version of Di Maria which is a huge compliment because Di Maria was a great player.”

Busy window

Raphinha has been turning heads this season and we would not be surprised to see transfer interest mount in the summer.

He has quickly become a key player at Elland Road and when he plays well the team as a whole excels.

Because of that it is vital we keep hold of him and we do not see why he would leave.

He recently spoke of his happiness playing for Leeds and he suggested he can achieve his dream of playing for Brazil while staying with the Whites.

It is possible he believes he will play European football with us too, and reaching that goal will be a lot easier with Raphinha at the club.

Also, he is playing under a top-class manager in Marcelo Bielsa and the difference the Argentine can make to his game will likely encourage Raphinha to stay.

He is getting better and better and that will hopefully persuade Raphinha that Thorp Arch is the best place for him.
