Tony Cascarino: Leeds nearly hit by ‘injustice’ decision in win v Tottenham

Tony Cascarino has insisted it would have been an injustice if Spurs would have taken the lead against Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.

Harry Kane thought he had handed his side the lead at Elland Road, but it was disallowed after a very tight offside call by the linesman and VAR.

Cascarino admitted it was a “ludicrous” decision, but that Spurs taking the lead would have been far from deserved for the away side.

Speaking on talkSPORT on Sunday morning, Cascarino was outraged by the decision but admitted that it would have been against the run of play.

“The goal that was disallowed was pretty mad,” he said.

“The Harry Kane offside was ludicrous, it could have taken them 2-1 up, it would have been an injustice, Leeds were far superior to Tottenham over 90 minutes.

“One was a team of real high tempo, and the other was quite lackadaisical.”

Leeds United

Injustice, indeed.

Cascarino is the one pundit who consistently tips Marcelo Bielsa to leave the Whites to join Spurs after Jose Mourinho was sacked.

Based on yesterday’s performance, there is no chance of that happening.

Bielsa demands effort, miles and determination from his players as a minimum, and Spurs are full of a squad who can’t be bothered to do that when their backs are against the wall.

Kane scoring would have been an injustice, with that and the Hueng-Min Son goal the only two real opportunities they had compared to ours, which you couldn’t count on two hands.

VAR gave it as offside, it is time to accept that, especially after the one that went against Patrick Bamford earlier in the season at Crystal Palace.

It would have been an injustice if that was allowed, and thankfully, the Whites went on to finish off the sorry Spurs at Elland Road.
