Tom Cairney shares why Daniel Farke will be ‘angry’ after what Leeds United players did v Swansea

Daniel Farke will be “angry” after what the Leeds United players did in the first against Swansea City, according to Tom Cairney.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Soccer Special on Wednesday (08:25pm), the Fulham midfielder said the Whites went flat before the break after levelling up the scoreline after just four minutes following the Swans’ opener just one minute into the game.

He added that the players could have been on the end of the “hairdryer treatment” as he called for them to show more “enthusiasm in the 3-1 victory at Elland Road.

Leeds United

“Do you know what, I think Daniel Farke is going to be a bit angry,” said Cairney. “For them to equalise so quickly, you’d feel like they’d kick on, but they’ve really gone flat.

“To be honest, if you want promotion and to do something this season after a bad result at Rotherham, you really need to be winning and putting teams like Swansea to the sword.

“I feel like if it carries on this way until half-time, which it looks like it’s going to, he’s going to have to give them a you know what, hairdryer treatment as they call it because it really has gone flat. They need more, they need enthusiasm, more chances, the crowd has even gone quiet for Elland Road. This is a must-win game in my opinion.”

Consistency

It certainly wasn’t a great start to the game for Leeds after Jamie Paterson put Swansea ahead after just a minute when he latched onto a loose header from Pascal Struijk.

But they bounced back quickly as Joel Piroe notched an equaliser against his old side just three minutes later when he slotted home following a neat move.

As Cairney alluded to, things did stagnate for a while before Georginio Rutter scored on the stroke of half-time to put his side ahead, with Dan James notching a third in the second half.

Leeds United

The main thing for the Whites is remaining consistent and not giving too much away after they dropped points in the 1-1 draw against Rotherham United on Friday (24 November).

Farke knows exactly what is required to achieve promotion from the Championship after his previous exploits at Norwich City and he’ll be demanding more from his players this season.

In other Leeds United news, a Whites player is surely set for a January exit after the latest Farke snub.
