Tom Cairney awestruck live on Sky Sports after what Georginio Rutter did in Leeds United v Swansea, ‘Oh My God’
Tom Cairney was awestruck by Georginio Rutter after his goal for Leeds United against Swansea City on Wednesday (29 November).
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Soccer Special on Wednesday (08:36pm), the Fulham midfielder raved about the 21-year-old forward’s touch to get on the end of Ethan Ampadu’s ball over the top.
He said that the Frenchman, who has been “excellent” all season, provided a “glorious finish” as he put the Whites ahead.

“Oh my god,” said Cairney. “What a goal, honestly. Ampadu, it’s the first time they’ve gone long all game and he’s ran in behind. I’m not saying it’s Bergkamp, but what a touch.
“Rutter in behind, one-on-one, calm finish. Look at this touch, Dennis. Kills it. And a glorious finish as well. Keeps his composure, 21 years old, been excellent all season. The pass is brilliant, but the first touch makes the goal.”
Moment of brilliance
It was an absolutely brilliant piece of skill from Rutter as he handed Leeds the lead right on the stroke of half-time at Elland Road.
Cairney was clearly shocked by how good the touch was from the forward before he went on to calmly slot the ball past the Swansea keeper Carl Rushworth.
To even be mentioned in the same sentence as Dennis Bergkamp just shows how impressive it was because he was a real master of his craft during his time with Arsenal in the Premier League.

It shows that, despite the goals not completely flowing for the Frenchman this season, he is full of confidence and there is plenty more still to come from him.
After nailing down the position as the central striker under Daniel Farke during this campaign, he will be hoping to fire the goals in to help the Whites mount a challenge for promotion.
In other Leeds United news, a Whites player is surely set for a January exit after the latest Farke snub.
