Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is reportedly no longer hell-bent on his November deadline as he plans talks with Leeds United director of football Victor Orta.
According to the Mirror on 29 September, the American is willing to take his time to interview candidates and then make a decision over who the right fit is.
Apart from Orta, the other three people he will be talking to next week are Lee Congerton who is now with Atalanta as their talent scout, Monchi at Sevilla plus Rui Pedro Braz at Benfica.
Right now, it’s at the interview stage so it’s hard to see anyone leading the race and everyone has the same chance of getting the job.
The fact that he’s looked at four candidates and all of them aren’t similar in their roles at the club tells you that it’s going to be a long-drawn process.
We should not expect any developments for at least a few weeks and no news on Orta’s front would mean that he’s not done overly well in his interview.
It would be hard for him to turn down a move to the two time Champions League winners, especially after their new owner is looking to shell out big money to make the club a superpower.
Hopefully, Orta stays at Leeds and continues building the squad in the manner he has while also selling players for the right amounts of money.
This should not impact the club’s transfer plans, however, as we expect him to be professional to his current employers and put in the same amount of time and effort.
