‘To be clear…’ – Victor Orta addresses Raphinha’s Leeds future amid mounting speculation
Victor Orta has dismissed reports linking Raphinha with a move away from Leeds United as nothing more than clickbait.
There have been several reports over the last few weeks linking Raphinha with a summer move away from Elland Road with UOL Esporte the latest outlet to claim interest from Manchester United.
Speaking on Monday night ahead of our game against West Ham, the club’s Director of Football was clear over these reports and insisted there has been no approaches for Raphinha.
“To be clear, we have not had an approach for Raphinha,” Orta told BBC Sport.
“It’s only clickbait, it’s only for creating business to the websites and we are really really happy.”
While we all suspected this was the case, it is a relief to know Raphinha looks like he’ll be staying at Elland Road amid mounting speculation to the contrary.
Raphinha has been a shining light for us this season and it would be a travesty if we only got one campaign out of the winger.
He looks to be going from strength to strength every time he takes to the pitch so it makes sense that there are links to the likes of Manchester United.
There are bound to be more stories linking our top players away from us this summer but that is just a by-product of having a very successful team with a talented group of players.
We should take it as a compliment if anything though, even if the thought of Raphinha turning out for Man United makes your stomach flip.
We’re glad the club has come out and taken a firm stance on Raphinha’s future as there is no doubt some fans were getting queasy.
