Tim Sherwood shares new contract view for Leeds United ace Raphinha
Tim Sherwood has backed Leeds United to tie their star man Raphinha down to a new contract despite heavy reports of a move away from Elland Road in the summer.
A host of Europe’s elite clubs have circled the Brazilian but his reported move to Barcelona now looks to be dead in the water, according to TEAMtalk.
The former Tottenham boss held back no praise for the 25-year-old whilst suggesting Liverpool should now make a move.

Speaking on the Kelly and Wrighty show, he said: “Raphinha especially in the Premier League at the moment he’s the man who stands out. He is dragging them forward.
“He’s got that guile, playing off the right and cutting in on his left foot. He looks like a Liverpool player to me, that type. He’s capable. That shape got pace and strength and he sees the pass and gives it at the right time.
“He’s got a swagger about him as well and looks like he could play at the highest level. But Leeds is a massive football club and if they stay in the league and want to invest in the side, why don’t you stay for the future? I think they will try and tie him down to a long-term contract.”
Fingers crossed
Hopefully, what Sherwood has suggested what the Whites should do – tie Raphinha down to a new contract – is true.
He is by far Leeds’ stand out performer over the last couple of seasons and Jesse Marsch may have found himself with an impossible task of keeping them in the Premier League if it wasn’t for the winger.

The maestro has been involved in 12 goals in 27 league games this season, more than any other player which shows just how important he is to this team.
With the Barcelona move breaking down, Sherwood urged Liverpool to make a move for Raphinha but that seems very unlikely following their January signing of Luis Diaz.
Leeds fans understand a player of his quality can play for any club in the world and fighting in a relegation battle isn’t the way he dreamed of spending his prime years which is why they would hold no grudges if he did leave.
That is as long as he continues to fight for Premier League survival which will ensure he goes for the highest price possible.
