Tim Sherwood raves about 'fantastic' Leeds United fans live on Sky Sports vs QPR as he names Elland Road one of his 'favourites'

Tim Sherwood was full of praise for the experience at Leeds United that the stadium and the fanbase produce as he watched the Whites take on QPR.

The Sky Sports pundit said live on the Sky Sports News on 4 October that Elland Road was “magnificent” and one of his “favourites” to play at because of the “fantastic” set of supporters who always turn up, as the home crowd boosted the early exchanges.

A strong start in front of a vocal home crowd saw Crysencio Summerville put Daniel Farke’s side ahead in the Championship clash, although the performance couldn’t hold up and it ended up being a nervy, but crucial, 1-0 win.

Sherwood said (7.51pm): “The crowd are on the front foot because the team are entertaining them. It’s a magnificent stadium, this, one of my favourites to go and play at.

“Especially with the crowd, no matter what the results they will turn up. They are a fantastic group of supporters.”

It can work both ways but more often than not the home support at Elland Road is a crucial weapon for Leeds United.

When results are good it makes it a daunting place for opposing teams to visit, and as the season improves under Daniel Farke that element could prove key.

Too often over the past two years where the side has been struggling in the Premier League the pressure looked to have been felt more heavily by the home side and the succession of managers that followed Marcelo Bielsa.

Sherwood won’t be the only one for whom Elland Road sticks out from their playing days, although he may be a rare example of an opposing player who has positive memories.

It was a tighter outcome than might have been expected against Gareth Ainsworth’s struggling Rs side on Wednesday but ultimately the three points were secured.

A home game against a side that isn’t looking to be hugely expansive has proven to be the Whites downfall enough times for a win to be the most important thing, especially coming off a defeat at Southampton.

But Asmir Begovic’s red card and accusations of cheating towards Patrick Bamford took the focus away from an important Leeds United result, as they continue their push up the table.

In other Leeds United news, a senior player will be training on his own for the rest of his time at the club according to Farke.
