Tim Sherwood makes Leeds United fans claim live on Sky Sports – ‘I hope they…’
Tim Sherwood shared his honest thoughts on Leeds United fans during the Championship clash with West Brom.
The Whites had the opportunity to put pressure on Sheffield United extend their lead at the summit of the Championship against Albion on Saturday (1 March).
However, Leeds could only manage a 1-1 draw against West Brom and their advantage on third-place Burnley therefore stands at six points.
Regardless of the result, Daniel Farke‘s side will still be the favourites to secure promotion back to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Leeds United fans praised by Sherwood
The former Tottenham manager admitted his personal thoughts on Leeds supporters on air during the clash with the Baggies.
Speaking on Sky Sports (1 March, 13:05 pm), he said: “My personal view, I want to see them back in the Premier League. It’s a magnificent fanbase.
“They’re top – I look at them and think they have a real opportunity to stay in the Premier League. We know how difficult it is – the three coming up look to be going down again – but with the crowds they get… it’s all about recruitment.
“They’ll be playing on front of a huge crowd every other week. They’ll want to play in that environment. I hope they are in the Premier League.”

Premier League promotion must be secured
With 11 matches to go, the Whites are in pole position for a return to the promised land that is the Premier League for the first time since the 2022/23 season.
However, if they don’t keep their composure and drop points regularly in the final few weeks of the campaign, they could be overhauled and have to settle for a playoff place, with the Blades and Burnley not giving up the chase anytime soon.
Farke will be doing his best to ensure that his squad stays calm and do not get carried away in the run-in as the Elland Road outfit get closer and closer to a promotion berth, while avoiding the heartache that they suffered last season.
Championship table 24/25 | Played | GD | Points |
1. Leeds United | 35 | +50 | 76 |
2. Sheffield United | 34 | +22 | 70 |
3. Burnley | 34 | +34 | 68 |
If they do secure promotion, there is a lot of work to do in the transfer window to improve the squad, with the current three promoted sides looking likely to come straight back down and the gap between the divisions seemingly at an all-time high.
However, the focus right now must be on making sure that the sides behind them are not given any encouragement.
The Peacocks have to be ruthless and give the chasers no hope of stealing their automatic promotion spot that they have worked so hard to secure.
