Thomas Tuchel shares Bayern Munich exit admission for Alex Nubel amid Leeds United speculation

Thomas Tuchel has made a transfer admission about the future of Bayern Munich’s Alex Nubel as Leeds United seek a deal for the goalkeeper, according to BILD am Sonntag.

The German newspaper reported in its print edition (page 3) on 16 July that the Bundesliga giants have rejected a loan offer for the 26-year-old from VFB Stuttgart worth £429,000 a year.

Speaking to BILD about a potential transfer for the German goalkeeper, Tuchel fuelled the speculation by saying: “Something can happen, of course.”

Tough battle

It looks as though Leeds could have a battle on their hands in trying to tempt the goalkeeper to Elland Road, but Tuchel’s comments show he is open to allowing him to leave.

It could be difficult to persuade Nubel to make the move to England and drop down to the Championship, given that Stuttgart currently play in the Bundesliga and have already made an offer for him.

But they do seem more keen on a loan deal for the German and The Daily Mail reported on 14 July that Bayern were looking for a permanent transfer, with a fee of about £6.8million placed on his head.

If the Whites can secure a deal for the keeper, he would be an excellent addition for next season after he racked up some excellent experience during the past two seasons on loan at Ligue 1 side Monaco.

This one may be a tough sell for Leeds, but they need to firm up their interest soon to be in with a chance of signing him.
