Thomas Frank reveals what he thinks about Archie Gray ahead of Leeds United reunion

Archie Gray will be returning to Elland Road this weekend as an opposition player with Tottenham.

Leeds United host Tottenham this weekend, looking to end the current period well before the October international break.

With weather warnings in place across England, Saturday’s clash will be a wet one, but also a momentous one, with Gray set to return to Elland Road for the first time since leaving to join Spurs.

Ahead of the clash, Thomas Frank has spoken out about the youngster, who will undoubtedly get a good reception from the Whites’ support.

Archie Gray has had limited minutes under Thomas Frank

Gray hasn’t played as much as he would have liked at Tottenham since the appointment of Frank, having been a regular under Ange Postecoglou last season.

However, the teenager was often deployed at centre-back amid the injury crisis that ensued in North London, which was a large reason behind his constant exposure to first-team football.

The 19-year-old has played just 72 minutes of Premier League football this season, with his only start coming in the Carabao Cup victory against Doncaster, which is coincidentally Spurs’ only win in their last four games.

It seems unlikely that he will be handed a starting role upon his return to Elland Road, though Frank has still had plenty of praise for Gray when speaking in his press conference on Friday.

Frank said: “He’s still a very young man. He played a lot of Premier League minutes across the defence and in midfield. So many experiences. Some tough moments, and in those, you develop. I really, really like him as a player.

He needs to keep doing as he’s doing. Came on against Bodo, part of making a difference. He did well against Doncaster and learned a lot. I like everything about him.”

Harry Gray can follow in Archie’s footsteps at Leeds

Harry Gray, coincidentally, is the next big name to come from the Leeds academy.

At just 16 years old, Harry is already knocking on the first team door at Leeds, having featured in a handful of matchday squads for the Whites.

Given how quickly his brother burst onto the scene and established himself as a regular, it may not be long until he can do the same thing.

Leeds supporters love seeing some of their own thrive, and there is no better place to do that than at Elland Road.
