Thomas Frank makes Leeds-Everton relegation admission ahead of Premier League clash

Thomas Frank has admitted that Leeds United as a club should be in the Premier League.

The Whites will face Brentford in the final game of the season, but Frank has warned that Leeds should expect no favours from his team.

Leeds duo Liam Cooper and Stuart Dallas appeared to have taunted Frank while celebrating their promotion. The Bees’ boss is not holding any grudge against them.

Frank said as quoted by The Daily Mirror (17 May, page 52): “It’s nothing about Everton, Burnley or Leeds and I know at my press conference I’ll get a lot of questions about a video with some Leeds fans, but there is no story there from my perspective.”

Brentford striker Ivan Toney retweeted the clip of Cooper and Dallas with the message “Hmm”, but Frank added: “It was a story from two years ago in the Championship.

“I think Leeds should be in the Premier League with their history. Of course, I can’t say I want them to stay up more than Everton or Burnley. The three of them need to fight for it and then we’ll see who’s there.”

Tense final day

Leeds earned a crucial point against Brighton in their last game, thanks to a late goal from Pascal Struijk.

They have moved out of the relegation zone, but the Whites are not safe yet.

The problem with Leeds is that they have only one game left, and the goal difference doesn’t give a pretty reading either.

The other two teams – Everton and Burnley – are also in the mix, but they have at least two more games to save themselves from getting relegated.

Leeds need to win their final game, as simple as that.

Burnley have improved in recent games, but they face Aston Villa and Newcastle United in their final two matches. It won’t be easy to get a win from those games.

Everton could have earned their safety had they won against Brentford. But they lost 3-2.

The Toffees have to win against Crystal Palace, before their trip to Emirates to face Arsenal.

Frank Lampard will not want the league to go to the final day to learn their fate. It’s incredibly tense at the moment.
