‘They will have too much’ – Dimitar Berbatov predicts result of Leeds v Newcastle
Former Manchester United and Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov believes that Leeds United will get back to winning ways against Newcastle on Wednesday night.
The Whites take on the Magpies at Elland Road as they look to pick up a much-needed win after losing to West Ham last Friday.
Berbatov previewed the game for Metro and heaped praise on a young Leeds side that has impressed him this season.
He said, “I will go for Leeds. I think Leeds can progress and can play even better than they are doing at the moment, they are a young side and they have had some great performances so far.
“They will want to get back to winning ways and I think they will have too much for Newcastle. 2-1.”
Most Leeds fans would take a 2-1 win over Newcastle after the club’s recent run of poor form which has seen Marcelo Bielsa’s side pick up just one win in their last six league games.
Newcastle will be without several first-team players for Wednesday’s clash as the club is still recovering after suffering a COVID outbreak a few weeks ago.
The Magpies picked up a narrow win over West Brom at the weekend with a weakened squad as a makeshift defence struggled against the Baggies attack.
Only Federico Fernandez will return for Steve Bruce’s side which means the Magpies will be far from full strength when they take to the field on Wednesday.
Leeds have a great chance to pick up a convincing win against the side who currently sit one place above them in the Premier League table.
Whites fans will be hoping that Berbatov’s prediction is correct and that they can enjoy a first league win since late November on Wednesday evening.
