‘Gonna hurt us’, ‘Nooo’, ‘Huge miss’ – These Leeds fans react to major player update v Palace
After missing the game against Leicester, Rodrigo has been ruled out of the next Leeds United game against Crystal Palace on Saturday, after revealing he has tested positive for Covid-19.
Covid-19 is having an effect on a number of players and teams, and Rodrigo was a big miss for Leeds at Elland Road on Monday night.
There was some confusion among some fans as to why Rodrigo couldn’t simply get a test and play on Saturday after going into self-isolation.
However, the latest news is that it was a family member and the positive test means that he’s definitely out for Palace.
In his post on Instagram Rodrigo said, “Unfortunately I have tested positive for COVID-19 after being in contact with a family member that had been infected without us knowing.
“As per the protocol I will be self-isolating and will miss the game with Crystal Palace.
“Both my family and I feel great, we are lucky enough to feel healthy and we are keeping a positive attitude. From home I will support Leeds and the Spainish National team as a supporter and I will be back on the pitch soon.”
Rodrigo should be available for the next game against Arsenal, although a lot could rest on how severe he has it and how fit he is afterwards.
The good news is that so far he seems to be asymptomatic, saying he feels “great”.
It’s frustrating, especially as Rodrigo was really looking like he was settling into the Leeds number 10 role behind Bamford.
His range and accuracy of passing was fantastic against Aston Villa.
However, Leeds aren’t the first team and won’t be the last to suffer from Covid-related incidents this season and the international break means he won’t miss any more games.
It’s just something Leeds are going to have to suck up.
