These Leeds fans want to see more of 'Different class' player who started on bench v Arsenal
Plenty of Leeds United fans want to see more of Rodrigo who impressed off the bench during the Whites’ 0-0 draw with Arsenal at Elland Road on Sunday.
The Spain international missed the last two matches due to COVID-19 and entered the fray on 70 minutes as Leeds searched for a winner against an Arsenal side down to 10 men.
Used in the attacking midfield role that he was taking up on a regular basis prior to being ruled out, he went close a few times from long range and hit the bar with one spectacular effort.
In his 20 minutes on the field, he took three shots and had 17 touches of the ball, but was inaccurate as Leeds searched for that killer pass to unlock the Gunners defence (via WhoScored). Breaking down a deep block is often difficult, but Marcelo Bielsa’s side did look more dangerous with the 29-year-old on the field, with Stuart Dallas who started in the role not quite possessing the same attacking talents as the Spaniard.
In just 20 minutes the former Valencia man was certainly dangerous and it would not be a surprise to see him back in the starting line-up against Everton next Saturday. Due to his absence, he may not have been quite match fit, but this display should have convinced Bielsa to put him back in from the start.
One fan claimed that Leeds would have won had Rodrigo started, while another described him as “different class”.
Here are some of the best reactions to his performance on Twitter.
2 point's dropped, imagine saying that against arsenal.
Looked better with Rodrigo on, plenty of positives tho #MOT

Too late in making the changes. As soon as the sending off happened Rodrigo should’ve been on

Unreal performance by Leeds, how we didn’t win that game I’ll never know.. Great to see Kalvin back and thought Rodrigo was different class when he came on.. on to the next one #lufc

Cooper keeps giving away fouls in dangerous positions. He’s not good enough at this level. But how many poor passes have we had today in the final 3rd. We really should have played Rodrigo from the start. Come on Leeds #mot
