The Times: Andrea Radrizzani keeping close eye over potential takeover in Europe
Leeds United chairman Andrea Radrizzani has made it no secret that he would like to expand his portfolio in Europe.
The Italian has previously admitted he would like to build an empire of clubs that can work in synergy with the Whites in years to come.
Radrizzani has been linked with a number of European takeovers, with Sky claiming he was named as a minority shareholder in a move for Cagliari.
Only some months later, the Times have now reported that Radrizzani could be part of a takeover for Spanish club Valencia.
The La Liga side are currently in financial crisis and their owner, Peter Lim is under pressure to sell the club from fans this season.
According to the report, Radrizzani and the Aser group are keeping an eye over those developments as the season progresses.
It is suggested that purchasing a stake in Valencia could become part of the footballing “iceberg” that the Leeds owner is wishing to create.
Pressure is growing on Radrizzani’s close friend, Lim, and that could be a major factor over the Leeds owner making a potential move.
Radrizzani has been public over his desire to build a European empire and claimed that clubs in Spain, Italy, France and Portugal are on his radar.
Manchester City’s owners also own numerous clubs, but that is global and Leeds’ plan appears to be much closer to home.
No move appears imminent, but Leeds and Radrizzani clearly have a close relationship with Valencia and their owners – something which could benefit them further down the line.
