TalkSPORT team praise 'special player' Raphinha after Leeds win v Norwich

Leeds winger Raphinha is a ‘special player’ after his brilliant performance against Norwich helped the Whites to a huge win on Sunday.

The Brazilian hit the bar twice during the game but got the all important assist in the 95th minute for Joe Gelhardt’s winner, helping the side to create a four-point gap above the relegation zone.

While discussing the game on their talkSPORT breakfast show [March 14, 6:29am], both Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour admitted they were in awe of his performance and dubbed him a ‘top player’.

“He’s brilliant. A special player. I think he’s a top player Al,” said Parlour.

“I’m really starting to warm to him,” Brazil replied. “I was thinking is he one of them where it’s one every three games he plays well? No, no, he’s got something.”

The win was one that was absolutely needed, but the performance of Raphinha has been a long time coming for the Leeds fans.

The Brazilian is undoubtedly the club’s best player but in recent weeks his performances have blown hot and cold and the team have missed his influence in key moments.

But against Norwich, he showed that he is up for the fight and proved that there is a reason that top clubs like Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing him.

His left foot is a wand, but it’s his willingness to run for 95 minutes per game and give his all even when things aren’t going his way that have got him recognition as a fan favourite.

If Leeds are to survive relegation, it will be largely in part down to the ‘special’ 25-year-old winger, especially if he continues to turn in performances like that on Sunday.
