Leeds United were linked with a big move for an exciting new attacking target on Tuesday.
With all the attention on a move for Rodrigo De Paul, RMC Sport reporter Mohamed Bouhafsi said that Leeds had contacted PSG’s Julian Draxler “to convince him to join them”.
He said that Draxler “has not been receptive in their interest so far”.

It caught the attention of Liverpool Echo journalist Matt Addison, who said that Draxler was a player who the Reds had been interested in.
Talking on his Blood Red podcast, Addison said he was surprised that no other clubs were in for the ‘exciting’ player who was into the last year of his contract.
“It’s a really interesting one,” said Addison. “He’s obviously a player Liverpool have been interested in before. When he went to PSG they were interested.
“He’s stagnated a bit, Leeds apparently are going to go for him. However, it appears while Leeds want him, Draxler isn’t ready to leave Paris yet.
“If Leeds did get him over the line it would be a really exciting signing for them. He’s still a very good player, he’s had a couple of injuries and struggled to get into the PSG team at times but we know how good a player he is.
“I’m surprised that just Leeds are in for him, it doesn’t appear that anyone else is interested.
“A player of that talent with just a year left on his contract, I’m surprised that other clubs haven’t come in.
“I don’t think Liverpool would be interested any more and it doesn’t look like the deal will get done before the game against Liverpool.”
Draxler was a real curveball when news broke of Leeds’ interest on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old is a firmly established Germany international with 52 caps and six goals for his country.
We would have said that his wages – reported to be £124k-a-week at PSG – would mean a move wouldn’t happen.
However, those wages aren’t far off what Rodrigo was on at Valencia and Leeds in the Premier League are a different proposition.
Andrea Radrizzani also has a good personal relationship with PSG president and QSI chairman Nasser al-Khelaifi and that could help smooth a move through for the player who’s struggled at PSG.
Draxler only played 11 times in Ligue 1 last season and didn’t score. The fact he’s out of contract next year could mean his time in Paris is coming to an end.
However, his next move will be a big one for him and if he’s not receptive to the Leeds offer, it seems this one could be a non-starter.
