Surgery claim shared by Doctor as Leeds United defender Junior Firpo suffers hamstring injury

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...

Leeds United defender Junior Firpo will not need surgery despite facing a setback on his hamstring, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The Whites left-back already missed a number of months of the campaign through injury and has now picked up another one after being fit for a few games.

The injury expert claims that while he will be out for a few weeks, it is a Grade 2 hamstring tear and not one that will require surgery.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Firpo:

“He will be out for a few weeks but it’s never unexpected to see a player pick up another injury – especially muscular – after returning from an extended absence as the body still needs time to adapt to in-game fitness demands.

This sounds like a Grade 2 (out of 4) hamstring tear and surgery wouldn’t be required unless something drastic happens during rehab.”

It remains to be seen what the Leeds hierarchy ends up doing with Firpo, given his injury woes since he moved to Elland Road.

Even when fit, his performances have let the side down and January could represent a perfect opportunity for the club to cash in on his services.

There are links in Spain and it may be tempting for him to return to La Liga where he thrived playing for Real Betis.

In other Leeds United news, the club are now mooted to fast-track a January move for a ‘Phenomenal’ player as his transfer stance emerges.
