Supercomputer predicts Leeds United’s Premier League relegation chances

Leeds United’s chances of Premier League survival have been boosted again after several results went their way.

The Whites drew 1-1 with Aston Villa on Saturday, with Anton Stach’s sublime free-kick cancelled out by a late Tammy Abraham leveller.

However, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham lost to Liverpool and Arsenal, respectively, meaning that Leeds remain 15th in the table.

West Ham United did manage a 0-0 draw with Bournemouth, so Daniel Farke’s side are still six points clear of the bottom three, but they are now big favourites to avoid the drop.

Leeds predicted to avoid relegation

At the end of November, Leeds were firmly in the relegation zone, and everything was pointing towards an immediate return to the Championship for the Elland Road outfit.

However, a run of just two defeats in the 16 games across all competitions has seen them move well clear of the bottom three, as well as advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup.

According to the Opta Supercomputer, there is now only a 2.33 per cent chance that Leeds will be relegated this season.

Premier League table

Elsewhere, Wolves’ chances of suffering the drop are at 100 per cent, while Burnley’s sit at 97.6 per cent.

In terms of the Whites’ other relegation rivals, West Ham are the most likely to fall into the Championship, with their chances of ending the season in the bottom three sitting at 71.44 per cent.

Nottingham Forest have been given a 23.08 per cent chance of relegation, while Tottenham are at 4.3 per cent.

Who are Leeds playing over the next month?

Currently sitting on 31 points, it is likely that Leeds only need a few more wins to retain their Premier League status for next season.

There are still 11 games remaining this term, but Farke’s side could almost guarantee their survival over the next month.

The Whites face Manchester City next up in the Premier League, before welcoming Sunderland to Elland Road.
