Stuart Dallas reacts as Leeds are confirmed champions, jokes about London away days

Leeds United are champions of the Championship after Stoke caused a shock by beating Brentford 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

West Brom’s defeat to Huddersfield on Friday meant that Leeds’ promotion was assured but they will now go into their last two matches of the season as title-winners now that they cannot be caught by any of the chasing pack.

Stuart Dallas reacted to the title-winning news on Twitter as soon as it was confirmed, joking about Leeds’ abysmal record on the road in London.

“No wins in London, no problem. Champions,” said the former Brentford player.

Dallas’ tweet might not go down too well with supporters of his former club but why should we care? Dallas has been one of the stand-out performers for Leeds under Marcelo Bielsa and is a huge contender to win the player of the season award.

But he and his team-mates might have to get a bit better at winning in London next season with several tough trips to the capital on the cards.

Of course, a trip to Brentford might still be in the schedule for Leeds.

Thomas Frank’s side lost to Stoke but can still clinch second place if West Brom slip up against QPR on Wednesday and the Bees beat Barnsley.

Dallas is likely to be cheering on his old club deep down but right now, all he and Leeds fans care about is that they are Championship winners and are back in the Premier League after 16 long years.
