Stuart Dallas blasts Leeds United player after what happened vs Man Utd – ‘Disaster’
Leeds United had to settle for a draw against Manchester United at Elland Road on Sunday.
Three second0half minutes would determine the outcome of the clash, with Leeds and Man United sharing a 1-1 stalemate.
Brenden Aaronson opened the scoring on 62 minutes, only for Leeds to be pegged back on 65 minutes when Matheus Cunha levelled for Ruben Amorim’s side.
Man United were slight favourites against Leeds, but Daniel Farke’s men were able to extend their unbeaten run to seven games and are now well on their way to securing their Premier League status for 2026-27.
Lucas Perri didn’t cover himself in glory for Man United goal
Despite the aforementioned unbeaten run still intact, there will be a significant amount of frustration among everyone connected with Leeds that they have won just won of their previous six Premier League games.
Taking the lead against their bitter Red Devils rivals with under 30 minutes to play at the weekend presented a huge opportunity to put three points on the board, and they may well have gone on to do so if it wasn’t for a strange decision by goalkeeper Lucas Perri.
Farke has been openly critical of Perri this season, mainly for his distribution, but it was the Brazilian’s decision to come racing out of his goal for Cunha’s equaliser that enabled the United forward to slot the ball past him and into the bottom corner.
Speaking via Premier League Productions, ex-Leeds star Stuart Dallas let his feelings be known on Perri’s role in the equalising goal, and he didn’t hold back in his criticism of the 28-year-old.
“The goalkeeper is no-man’s-land. Either come, come all out, or stay. He doesn’t need to come because Bornauw is there. Cunha is stretching for it. It’s a disaster from Perri if I’m being honest with you,” Dallas said.
Leeds may soon have Perri decision to make
Signed for a fee in the region of £14million from Lyon in the summer transfer window, Perri was brought to Elland Road with the vision for him to become Leeds’ number one goalkeeper for the foreseeable future.
However, just 15 Premier League appearances into his Whites career, and he’s already conceded 25 goals and kept just three clean sheets, leaving major question marks over his shot-stopping and decision-making abilities.
- Perri conceded 44 times and kept 10 clean sheets in 33 Ligue 1 games last season
- He’s faced 60 shots in the Premier League this term, with 25 of those hitting the back of the net
- Perri has also failed to save any of the three penalties he’s faced this season
As per FotMob, Perri is registering a 58.3 per cent save percentage, has prevented -1.06 goals, has a 53.7 per cent successful pass completion and a 25.5 per cent long ball accuracy.
Therefore, it’s clear he’s got some major improvement to make in some key areas, and if he can’t, then Leeds will have to be considering moving on from him already.
With Illan Meslier looking set to leave either this month or in the summer when his contract expires, and with just a 33-year-old Alex Cairns and a 35-year-old Karl Darlow for company, it’s a department that may still require some major overhaul in the near future.
