‘Stranger things have happened’ – Stuart Dallas shares Illan Meslier verdict after Leeds concern
Illan Meslier’s future at Leeds United has been a big talking point throughout the summer.
Had it not been for Daniel Farke’s decision to drop Meslier last season, Leeds could have been in for a very different campaign this time round.
The Frenchman was prone to errors, which led him to lose his place, which then turned into speculation surrounding his future at Elland Road.
Meslier was linked with a move to Valencia in the dying stages of the summer transfer window, though Stuart Dallas has made his feelings clear on what he thinks the future holds for the goalkeeper.

Stuart Dallas backs Illan Meslier to bounce back at Leeds
Concerns have already emerged over Lucas Perri at Leeds, with the defeat to Arsenal exposing some of the frailties in his ability.
However, Farke has maintained his faith in the former Lyon keeper to deliver the goods, which has seen Meslier demoted to third choice at Leeds, behind Karl Darlow.
With that said, while many assumed that to be the end for Meslier, Dallas thinks that his former teammate could still have a future with the Whites.
In a TikTok shared by Comave Italia on 7 September, the former Leeds star said: “I’m not sure that he’s forgotten; I don’t know if it is the end for him.
“He’s still at the club, and he will continue to work. Stranger things have happened in terms of players fighting their way back into the fold.”
There is simply no way back for Illan Meslier at Leeds
Dallas defending his former teammate comes as no surprise, but even he will know deep down that Meslier is finished at Leeds.
Regardless of how poorly Perri has fared so far in the Premier League, Meslier very nearly cost his side promotion last season, and as seen with Jack Harrison, once the fans have made their minds up on a player, there’s no turning back.
Darlow is a worthy backup to Perri in times of need, leaving little room for the Frenchman to have any say in the Premier League campaign.
Leeds need to cash in on Meslier when they get a chance, though regret will certainly set in over the fact that they didn’t do it when his stock was high.
