Stephen Warnock waxes lyrical of Raphinha in first half v Watford
Stephen Warnock was impressed by Raphinha’s corner which led to Diego Llorente opening the scoring for Leeds United v Watford.
The Whites dominated the early proceedings and once again Raphinha was at the heart of everything they did in the final third.
After having a couple of chances and playing few forward passes, he played a key role in them opening the scoring, but due to the ball rebounding in the penalty area for the corner, the Brazilian will not be credited with an assist for Llorente’s goal.
Discussing the goal for Premier League Productions’ world feed, Warnock, who’s also a Sky Sports pundit, said, “It was a lovely ball from Raphinha.
“You can see how it ricochets to Llorente. He is the quickest to react and then finds the back of the net.
“Leeds have been dominant and they deserve that lead.”
On course for first win
The Whites have looked impressive in certain spells in games this season, but in this first half, they were seamless.
The defence has looked organised, there are no gaps in midfield and the likes of Raphinha and Mateusz Klich are doing incredibly to link the defence and the attack.
To his credit, the Brazilian deserves a goal himself as he’s worked tirelessly throughout the course of the first half.
Dan James, on the other hand, has been far from impressive, and Marcelo Bielsa may look to introduce Jack Harrison in the second half.
Apart from that, the Elland Road faithful have been getting behind this side and seem to be enjoying watching the boys play.
Hopefully, the Whites score another couple in the second half and secure their first Premier League win of the season.
