Stan Collymore takes aim at Marcelo Bielsa after crushing Leeds United defeat v Manchester United
Stan Collymore has taken a swipe at Marcelo Bielsa after Leeds United were hammered 5-1 by Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
It was a horrific start to the new season by the Whites, who were completely outclassed throughout the 90 minutes.
Collymore really doesn’t seem to be a fan of Bielsa, suggesting the experienced Argentine manager has never learned from his mistakes, which is why he’s not managed a top club.

“Bielsa the hipster’s wet dream,” said Collymore via his personal Twitter account on Saturday after the loss versus Man United.
“But there’s a reason he’s never managed a top 20 global club, because for the great intent of his teams, at 66 he’s never eradicated fundemental flaws.
“Take away the million-word essays on his eccentricities, he’s a good manager, nothing more.”
Harsh
No one is saying Bielsa is the best manager in the world.
However, he has been called the best coach in the world by people who are far more reputable and far more knowledgable than Collymore.
Leeds fans don’t need their manager to be bigged up to them but for all of Bielsa’s supposed flaws, there are reasons behind them.
If we had a bigger squad, we might not have lost as heavily as we did against Manchester United.
Kalvin Phillips clearly wasn’t fit and neither was Diego Llorente so that was two of our best defensive players being left out.
We’re still short of a central midfielder too because you would imagine that if Bielsa had a fully fit Adam Forshaw, he may have started over Rodrigo in the midfield.
Leeds’ squad is just short of what it needs to be but Bielsa knows that and he likes to have a small squad because he invests a lot of time in making sure he has the right players and has them all on the tune he wants them.
Bielsa has flaws – but they’re only flaws after a heavy defeat.
We’ll lose by a lot of goals two or three times a season but we’ll also dish out pastings too.
Collymore is so reactionary. Where was his criticism last season when he finished ninth?
