Stan Collymore changes his mind in new prediction for Leeds United showdown v West Ham United

Stan Collymore has changed his mind in a new prediction for the Leeds United showdown against West Ham on Sunday (21 May).

Taking to Twitter on Friday (19 May), the pundit backed the Hammers to win the game at the London Stadium 2-0.

But he has now gone back on his word and believes the Whites will get on the scoresheet, although will ultimately still lose the game.

“West Ham will be buzzing after reaching the Europa Conference League final while Leeds are in the last-chance saloon,” Collymore wrote for the Sunday People (page 60, 21 May).

“It’s squeaky bum time for the Yorkshiremen.”

Mammoth clash

It really is do or die now for Leeds, who could only watch on as their relegation rivals Everton and Nottingham Forest picked up hugely important points on Saturday (20 May).

The Toffees kept their hopes of staying up alive with a last-minute equaliser at Wolves, while Forest secured their safety with a win over Arsenal.

However, in more positive news for the Whites, they take on a West Ham side who have only just returned from a huge European night in the Netherlands.

The Hammers could, of course, be full of confidence following their superb win over AZ Alkmaar in the Europa Conference League semi-final second leg on Thursday (18 May).

But there is also the very real possibility of West Ham being completely destroyed from the trip, in every sense of the word.

The players probably celebrated the win long into the night, with Leeds now hoping their upcoming opponents will be exhausted and in no mood to put up a fight on the pitch.

In other Leeds United news, one EFL club chief has refused to be drawn on links between him and the vacant director of football role after Victor Orta’s departure.
