Spurs set to recall Clarke

Leeds will lose Jack Clarke in January if he continues to be left out of the Leeds squad.

That’s the news from Football Insider who say that a recall clause exists in his contract and will be triggered by Spurs if he doesn’t start playing regularly.

That’s looking unlikely at the moment, with Leeds suffering from having six loan stars and only space for five in the squad.

Clarke hasn’t impressed this season and was hooked at half-time in his last EFL cup outing.

He’s been dropped from the Championship squad for the last four league games and with Helder Costa still waiting for a start, Clarke has found himself way down the pecking order.

This will all come down to whether Marcelo Bielsa sees him as an important squad player for the second half of the season.

If not, then losing him wouldn’t be a big deal. We’ve got a lot of sympathy for the youngster who’s been thrust into the spotlight after his breakthrough last season.

But promotion is the only thing that matters for Leeds this season and if Bielsa doesn’t want to play Clarke, he’s better off going back to Spurs or out on a fresh loan.

Football Insider claim Spurs will try to place him with another Championship club, so he could come back to haunt us yet.
