Spotted: Image of Finlay Gorman exit shows Leeds United exit, Fabrizio Romano says agreement ‘official’

Finlay Gorman has completed his Leeds United exit and has joined Manchester City with the agreement now official, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The transfer specialist shared via his Twitter account on Sunday (7 January) a photo of the Whites’ academy gem holding up a Manchester City shirt as he completes his deal alongside the news that his transfer away from Elland Road had become official.

Gorman reportedly turned down a number of other bids from other clubs to accept Manchester City’s project and after many conversations between the two clubs, the deal has now been completed, with it even getting the Romano “here we go” seal of approval.

Confirmed exit

Leeds United supporters would have hoped to see such an exciting young talent lining up in their own first team rather than donning the shirt of a different English side before he had even made his Whites’ debut, but they have been relatively powerless in this deal.

It is clear from Romano’s tweet that the young star had garnered plenty of attention from plenty of other clubs so the Whites were always going to struggle to keep him at Elland Road amid that much exterior interest.

Even though it is a blow to lose such an exciting talent, Leeds have at least ensured that they have earned a reasonable fee for the teenager’s services and will have likely done well out of selling a player with that little experience.

Hopefully, Gorman will hit the heights that everyone at Thorp Arch has expected him to in his future career and Leeds can at least take pride in knowing that they played a part in his development. If nothing else, the Whites have turned a pretty penny on their investment.

In other Leeds United news, Blackburn are expected to pay almost all of one Leeds star’s wages if they sign him on loan this January
