Spotted: Daniel James horror injury emerges after Leeds United loss v Southampton at Wembley

Leeds United star Daniel James was spotted with a horror wound on his head after the 1-0 defeat to Southampton at Wembley.

The Wales international started the game on the bench but made a huge difference once he came on, hitting the crossbar and forcing Alex McCarthy into a big save late on, but he couldn’t affect the end result ultimately.

At the end of the 90 minutes, James went up for a header with Kyle Walker-Peters and the two players clashed heads, with the winger needing immediate medical attention.

He returned to the pitch with his head strapped up, and a new image shared on X by Emilyrender (26 May) has shared the horror wound he suffered across his face.

Should Daniel James have started for Leeds United v Southampton?

It’s easy to say in hindsight, but James was so good when he came on at Wembley that he will feel he should have started the game from the start.

His pace, directness and willingness to just get the ball into the box or try to take shots helped to unsettle the Saints in a short period, so it makes you wonder what the case may have been if he had longer.

James has his flaws, like everyone else, but the commitment he shows every time he pulls on the shirt cannot be ignored and that is literally being shown on his face now.

It’s a nasty-looking battle wound across his head and it will hurt, but it will heal up and thankfully there is no lasting damage.

Leeds will now have to regroup this summer and go again in the Championship next season, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a fan who doesn’t want James to be part of that.
