Spotted: Daniel Farke leaves Elland Road in minicab with Leeds United announcement imminent

Daniel Farke has been spotted leaving Elland Road in a minicab and an announcement on his appointment as Leeds United boss could be made on Tuesday (4 July), according to ITV journalist Chris Dawkes.

Dawkes posted a video on Twitter of the former Norwich City boss posing for photographs before getting into the vehicle.

Leeds have been on the hunt for a new manager since Sam Allardyce left the club after an ill-fated four-game spell resulted in relegation from the Premier League last season.

The likes of Patrick Vieira and Steven Gerrard had previously been touted, but rumours that Farke was to take over soon gathered pace.

Dawkes accompanied the video with the caption: “Prospective new #lufc head coach Daniel Farke leaving Elland Road just now. Expecting an announcement from the club this evening.

A great appointment

It has already been a summer of upheaval at Leeds United, with 49ers Enterprises poised to complete their full takeover of the club from Andrea Radrizzani.

While that has yet to be fully sanctioned, it looks certain now that the new owners have signed off on the appointment of Farke, especially with this latest development all but confirming his appointment.

For Leeds, it represents a shrewd bit of business to appoint the German, who has pedigree in the Championship having twice taken Norwich City to the Premier League from the second tier.

That, of course, is no guarantee of success and there is plenty of work to be done – not least deciding which players can now be sold to allow Farke to manoeuvre in the transfer window as he plots a route back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

But, for now, this is certainly a step in the right direction for a club that is in desperate need of some stability after a pretty tumultuous 12 months on and off the pitch.
