‘Spat out my beer’, If EFL void the season I’m done – Many Leeds fans react to Sky pundit claim
Leeds United fans have been reacting on Twitter after Jamie Carragher claimed that the Yorkshire giants deserve promotion to the Premier League.
Writing on the Telegraph website, Carragher said that his former club Liverpool deserve to win the Premier League while adding: “Based on the fixtures played, I also believe Leicester City deserve Champions League football and Leeds United to be promoted to the Premier League.”
Carragher is right. There is no way that the season can be scrapped now and Liverpool be told they cannot lift their first-ever Premier League title and Championship leaders Leeds be told they have to start their bid to win promotion from the start.
We all understand that football can only return once it is safe to do so and the coronavirus threat is at a low, manageable level where hundreds of people are not dying each day.
Saying that you want the 2019/20 football season to resume once that happens is not being biased, it’s not saying you don’t care about public health and it’s certainly not saying that you’re happy for people to die for football to return.
They are some of the accusations aimed against fans who want to see football back. We understand it might take some time but that doesn’t mean this season should be declared null and void, which is pretty much what has happened in the Netherlands in the last week.
Carragher certainly has the support of Leeds United fans for his latest claim with the Sky Sports pundit even getting one fan to spit out his beer.
