Southampton reluctant to let Jimmy-Jay Morgan leave amid Leeds United transfer interest
Southampton are reportedly unwilling to let starlet Jimmy-Jay Morgan leave amid Leeds United, Manchester City and Arsenal transfer interest.
According to Sky Sports [12:52 on 24/01], the 17-year-old has informed the Saints that he wants to leave with the three clubs keen on securing his services.
Daily Echo’s Alfie House has named Leeds a potential option with the striker having 18 months left on his current deal.
Via Twitter, House wrote, “I’m told there is truth in reports on Jimmy-Jay Morgan’s future. 17-yo wants to play senior football, Leeds United a potential shout. Seemed he’d pre-agreed a pro but I’m told his scholarship runs for another 18 months. Unclear now but #SaintsFC reluctant to let him leave early.”

Leeds are known to be one of the best clubs to develop young talents and signing the Saints youngster will make perfect sense for them.
He’s 17 and will not instantly demand a promotion to the senior side and would instead be happy playing for the under-21s where he can prove his worth.
It’s pretty evident that he’ll get senior minutes quicker at Elland Road than he will at Arsenal or Manchester City.
The two sides are extremely wealthy and spend millions each year on signing quality young players – something Leeds do not have the luxury of doing.
Given the fact that the 17-year-old is not on a senior deal at St Mary’s, he will be available for relatively cheap and this is a transfer that Leeds need to be all over.
We’re hoping to see some progress in the coming days and perhaps they can even seal the deal before the window closes.
