Source shares Joe Rodon transfer news as Leeds United after Tottenham crisis
One source has insisted that Tottenham didn’t include a January recall clause into Joe Rodon’s Leeds United loan, according to Phil Hay.
The Athletic journalist reported on Friday (10 November) that a confidential source with knowledge of the transfer has been adamant that Spurs neither insisted nor included a clause in the deal to allow the Welsh international to return to London in January.
Many had been left to question whether Tottenham would recall the defender after the defensive crisis suffered against Chelsea, in which Cristian Romero saw red and Micky van De Ven hobbled off in the first half with an injury.

But no such early return appears possible and it looks likely that Daniel Farke will be able to call upon Rodon at least until the end of the 2023/24 campaign, should his stay at Elland Road not be extended.
Huge boost
Rodon was brought to Elland Road over the summer in a bid to not only add depth to Farke’s defensive ranks but boost the quality of the Leeds United backline as they prepared to mount a Championship promotion push.
The foundation of Farke’s squad in recent weeks and months has been built upon the stable partnership of Rodon and Pascal Struijk, with the pair’s excellent displays in defence providing an excellent base from which the attacking talent in the side can flourish.
Had the Welshman returned to Tottenham in January, it could well have been disastrous for Leeds and their promotion hopes, as the 26-year-old has been one of the first names on Farke’s team sheet with his commanding physical displays.

Liam Cooper may well be waiting in the wings, but the Scotsman hasn’t been at his best when called upon in the early stages of the season and it would a be step down in quality should he be expected to replace Rodon in defence week in and week out.
There will be plenty of interest in several Leeds stars when the January transfer window opens. The Whites’ positive start will have given them a chance of keeping some of the bigger names at Elland Road and the decision to avoid a recall clause in Rodon’s deal means that they have one less player to worry about losing this summer.
