Sonny Perkins set to travel with Leeds United squad to Wolves
Leeds United youngster Sonny Perkins is set to travel with the first-team squad for the Carabao Cup match against Wolves, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
The 18-year-old forward, who has never been in a Leeds matchday squad, came off the bench for the final ten minutes of the Under-21s’ 4-2 victory against Newcastle on Monday 7th November.
Considering he has started every game for the Under 21’s this season, it has been reported that Perkins may be set to travel with the squad as Jesse Marsch looks to make it three wins on the bounce.
Under 21 head coach, Michael Skubala was not drawn into any speculation surrounding the omission of several key players including Perkins, stating his side had “enough strength in depth” to beat Newcastle without Perkins and Co during his post-match interview.
Developing the Youth
Following the recent success of youngsters Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood, it comes as no surprise that Perkins and a number of his Under 21 teammates could be travelling with the matchday squad.

With top-scorer Mateo Joseph missing from the Under 21 squad entirely and watching the match pitch side, and duo Leo Hjelde and Darko Gyabi also left out, it appears Marsch could be ready to ring the changes on Wednesday night.
These players will look up to Willy Gnonto for inspiration following his match-winning cameo against Bournemouth, with the Italian making the step up from the Under 21’s to the first team with apparent ease.
For Perkins, being named in the squad would be a just reward for a fabulous start to his season, which saw him named Premier League 2 Division Player of the Month in August and already find the net seven times this season.
The 18-year-old, who penned a three-year-deal with the Whites in the summer, would gain invaluable experience from travelling and training with the likes of Rodrigo, although he is probably unlikely to start with rotation expected throughout.
