‘Something they are looking at’ – Phil Hay delivers Leeds PL loan claim

Leeds United are looking into the possibility of taking another player on loan this summer, according to Phil Hay.

Under Premier League rules, the Whites are restricted to just two temporary signings this season.

One of those spots has already been filled by Jack Harrison, who is now going into his third consecutive campaign at Elland Road but is still yet to make his move from Manchester City permanent.

According to Hay, however, Marcelo Bielsa’s men are open to the prospect of bringing in another loanee before the transfer window shuts at the beginning of next month.

Writing in a Q&A for The Athletic, he said: “Leeds can only do one more loan domestically.

“You’re limited to two in the PL (and they’ve already taken Harrison from City).

“But it’s something they’re looking at.”

We’ve already seen Marcelo Bielsa use the loan market to great effect during his time with Leeds, and it’s hard to imagine many fans turning their nose up at the prospect of another new arrival at Elland Road.

Granted, Hay doesn’t mention any names here, and it would be remiss to speculate too wildly, but given the fact that we saw Pascal Struijk start at Anfield in the first game of the season, you would imagine that a little more depth at heart of defence should be a priority.

Whether there is anybody out there who fits the exacting standards and specifications that Bielsa demands of his new additions remains to be seen, but at the very least, it’s promising to know that Leeds are on the hunt.
