‘Something not right’, ‘Unbelievable’ – These Leeds fans worried after Phil Hay Twitter update
The January window didn’t go exactly to plan for Leeds United.
Che Adams was the man Leeds wanted but Southampton backed out of the deal.
Leeds ended up with Jean-Kevin Augustin and Ian Poveda, but both have had minimal impact since they signed.
Poveda made the squad for two games without getting on the pitch and he’s since disappeared from view.
Jean-Kevin Augustin has made it onto the pitch for three cameo appearances without scoring but he’s picked up a hamstring issue, has missed the last two games, and has been ruled out of Saturday’s game against Huddersfield too.
Phil Hay delivered the news from the pre-match press conference on Thursday and it left plenty of Leeds fans thoroughly cheesed off.
The plan – at least from the fan’s perspective – was to sign players who could make an impact this season, but time’s running out with just 10 games left.
However, it’s important to remember that Leeds are still second and Tyler Roberts is on hand to provide back-up to Patrick Bamford when needed.
Hopefully, Augustin and Poveda will be ones for the future – because as it stands they’re not going to be able to make much impact this season.
Here are the best reactions from Leeds fans…
One fan put it well when he said “Bielsa wanted those signings. Ergo, they are not pointless. We may not understand the point of them, or we may have wanted something with a different point than Bielsa wanted. It is clear that he wanted depth coverage, not first 11 starters. Get over it.”
Bielsa probably couldn’t have put it better himself…
