Some Leeds fans want ‘good enough’ never-before-seen player in squad v Bristol C: ‘Step forward’

Ian Poveda is yet to be seen in the Leeds United first-team but that has not stopped fans from urging Marcelo Bielsa to get him back in the squad this weekend.

Leeds welcome promotion rivals Bristol City to Elland Road on Saturday, knowing that they will need a win to keep themselves in the automatic promotion spots with the chasing pack now breathing down their necks.

Bristol City are seventh and only three points separate them and Leeds in the Championship promotion race.

Leeds have won just two of their last 11 league matches and fans are now calling on Bielsa to make changes to his team selection in time for the Robins’ trip to West Yorkshire.

One player who fans want to see is January signing Poveda, who has not even made the bench in the last two league games.

The 19-year-old winger, who arrived from Manchester City last month, has played for the Under-23s, is fully fit and appears to be up to speed with Bielsa’s tactics based on him being on the bench a couple of times already.

However, despite the poor form of the likes of Helder Costa, Poveda is still not getting a chance to even play off the bench.

A section of Leeds fans want that to change this weekend against Bristol City, with some urging Bielsa to hand Poveda his debut for the Yorkshire giants.
