Sky Sports: Champions League side want Leeds ace after controversial star falls foul of manager
Sky Sports have reported that Leeds United left-back Barry Douglas is “high up” on Celtic’s transfer list as they look to replace Boli Bolingoli.
Bolingoli made the headlines for all the wrong reasons after breaking quarantine rules and jeopardising the Scottish Premiership.
The player travelled to Spain without letting Celtic manager Neil Lennon know and didn’t quarantine on his return.
That’s led to fixtures being postponed and left Lennon “furious”.
Amiens SC have reportedly made a loan bid for the Celtic player. Lennon is on the hunt for a replacement and Douglas is the one name that Sky Sports mentioned.
Douglas is on a reported £10k-a-week at Leeds.
Douglas could be good fit for Hoops
We thought Douglas would be on the move this summer after struggling for game-time last season.
However, he started against Blackburn in the season run-in and put in such a good performance that Leeds fans were disappointed when he was dropped for the next game.
He started again against Derby and could have played his way into contention for next season.
However, Wolves didn’t think he was good enough for the Premier League and he hasn’t really hit the heights that he did for the midlands club.
If the price is right we could see this being a logical move, with Leeds then freed up to bring another left-back into the club.
Stuart Dallas excelled there last season but it’s not his natural position.
Would Douglas be happy having the Premier League snatched away from him for the second time? The Scottish Premiership is not a good substitute even if Celtic do have Champions League football.
Saying that, Douglas would be a fantastic addition for Celtic as they look for a historic tenth consecutive title.
