Spotted: Sky Sports show footage of Weston McKennie arriving at Thorp Arch ahead of Leeds United transfer
Footage has emerged of Weston McKennie arriving at Thorp Arch ahead of completing his Leeds United medical.
The Athletic’s David Ornstein claimed (via Twitter, 29 January) the 24-year-old was set to travel to England after Leeds agreed a loan-to-buy deal with Juventus.
The American’s move to Elland Road is now nearing its completion with Sky Sports News’ Vicky Gomersall revealing that McKennie is now at Thorp Arch.
“It’s all going on with the window shutting tomorrow night. In the last few minutes, Weston McKennie has arrived, as you see here, at the Leeds training ground ahead of his medical,” said Gomersall (30 January, 03:04pm).
“The USA midfielder is expected to join on loan from Juventus with an option to buy.”
Statement of intent

The signing of McKennie is a huge statement of intent from the board and one of the signings of the window. The American international was highly sought after and the Yorkshire side have done remarkably to beat a number of potential suitors to his signature.
The pressure is now firmly on Jesse Marsch to deliver with this squad. There is an immense amount of talent within Leeds’ ranks and they now have to improve on their current league position.
Marsch now has an international standard midfield pairing to call upon and the prospect of Tyler Adams alongside McKennie is certainly an exciting one. There can be little doubt over how much support the board have provided during the transfer window, and it should be a positive sign moving forward.
It’s now time for this talented group of players to start delivering a consistent run of form which could see the Yorkshire side rapidly climb the Premier League table.
