Sky Sports share Leeds United transfer update ahead of Bristol City match

Josuha Guilavogui to Leeds United is expected to be completed in time for the midfielder to feature against Bristol City, according to Sky Sports.

The news outlet reported live on air (23 October, 2:36pm) that since the injuries to both Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev occurred, the Whites have been looking to bolster their ranks.

The Frenchman’s transfer to West Yorkshire hasn’t yet been officially announced but only because the Whites are still waiting for EFL approval to confirm the deal (TBR Football, 23 October).

“The deal is expected to be done in time for him to feature in this weekend’s game against Bristol City,” reporter Nick Powell said.

Josuha Guilavogui being available for Leeds United v Bristol is ideal

Ampadu’s 10-week absence was arguably the worst-case scenario for Daniel Farke.

The club were already fairly light in defensive midfield and centre-back and, after the injuries to their defensive-midfield duo, it just felt like the Whites were cursed.

Indeed, Joe Rothwell and Ao Tanaka were brought in over the summer in case of situations like this and they have more than proven their worth.

Guilavogui’s name might not be the most exciting of all the players Leeds were linked to, with players such as Cheikhou Kouyate and Cristoph Kramer being mooted, but it’s a transfer that makes a lot of sense.

The Frenchman can play in defensive midfield as well as centre-back and is also left-footed.

These were all boxes that Farke wanted to tick so it’s evident why the 34-year-old was brought in.

Should a deal be completed before Saturday (26 October), Leeds fans could likely see their new midfielder in action, even if it is just a cameo appearance.
