Sky Sports pundit wants Charlie Taylor back at Leeds United amid Phil Hay bid update
We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson claims that Charlie Taylor would be a solution to Leeds’ defensive issues in the Championship amid rumours he may rejoin the club.
The Athletic journalist Phil Hay reported on 6 July that Leeds were considering a bid to re-sign the 29-year-old academy graduate this summer, but the Elland Road faithful may find it hard to forget the controversial manner of his departure back in 2017.
Taylor refused to play for the club against Wigan Athletic amid links to the Premier League, with then-Leeds boss Garry Monk claiming he’d been “poorly advised all season” [Sky Sports]. The incident led to Taylor facing disciplinary action and leaving Leeds to join Burnley that summer.

Robinson, however, can see Taylor returning to the club despite his scared past with Leeds and thinks he could win fans over.
Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “It will split the fans’ opinion because fans will have an opinion and they have long memories about how players leave clubs, how players are treated or how they treat clubs.
“You can come back and win fans back over by winning games and with performances. Taylor’s capable of doing that. I personally wouldn’t be against him coming back at all.

“I think Junior Firpo has been really poor towards the end of last season and culpable for a lot of goals and mistakes.
“It’s an area they’re going to have to solidify in the Championship and Charlie Taylor will be a good solution, in my opinion.”
Taylor himself called his actions at the end of his time at Leeds the “biggest regret” of his career and may hope to make amends with a return.
In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that Rasmus Kristensen is on the verge of a Leeds United exit to the Serie A.
