'Massive' - Sky Sports pundit makes bold Leeds promotion claim

Paul Robinson has claimed that Leeds United could seal promotion to the Premier League early this season with wins against Fulham and Cardiff.

The Sky Sports pundit believes that everything is pointing towards the Whites sealing promotion this season from the Championship.

Marcelo Bielsa's men travel to Cardiff City on Sunday before taking on Fulham, after that they have games against the bottom three, all at home in their run-in.

Robinson was asked on Sky Sports' The Football Show (19/06, 11:54 am) whether or not the tricky opening couple of fixtures were bad for the Whites.

"I look at this as a massive opportunity for them," he said.

"They won't be looking at winning the title just yet, they'll just be looking at securing automatic promotion.

"If they pick up seven points from their first three games, I think they're almost there. If they beat Cardiff, then take the points from Fulham, I can't see Leeds slipping up."

With Leeds seven points ahead of Fulham before the restart, Robinson certainly has a point. The Cottagers entertain Brentford in their first game back, and that will be no easy clash.

Should Scott Parker's men lose both their opening games and Leeds win both, the gap to third-place, no matter who it is, will be in double figures with only 21 points left to play for.

It would need to take something disastrous for that to be overturned, and with Leeds having the bottom three to play at home, it is hard to see that happening.

We would all like promotion to be secured as early as possible, and two wins out of two in the next week will definitely make that achievable.
